Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about our wedding weekend? We might have answers! And they might even be right! Maybe.
Q. WHAT’S THE SCHEDULE?
Guests are expected to arrive at the Elounda Mare Yacht Club at 16:30. We hope. Y’all going to show up, right?
We will be providing a transfer to Il Borro (location for reception). Transfers will be done by boat. If this makes you nervous or you would prefer to avoid the “Gilligan’s Island” risk, let us know — there will be other modes of transportation available.
Once you arrive at the reception at Il Borro, there will be more food, drink, and entertainment. Bring your dancing shoes.
We’re informed that any survivors will need to escape with their lives at 02:30 (but not a minute sooner!).
Q. WHAT’S THE DRESS CODE?
We would ask for semi-formal attire. This was, after much negotiation, a compromise between black tie formal and Borat-style mankinis or bikinis.
Q. WHY CRETE, GREECE?
It was either Crete or Bakersfield. We opted for the former.
Q. CAN WE STAY AT A DIFFERENT HOTEL?
On our website, under ‘Accommodations’, we have listed a number of hotels, which we visited during our trips to Crete, in addition to the venue hotels. Everyone is welcome to stay at any hotel (even those not listed under Accommodations). We do have a discount code (WEDND) for the Porto Elounda and Elounda Peninsula hotels.
Q. DO YOU HAVE A GIFT REGISTRY?
No gifts please. Your presence is the best gift we could ever receive.
Q. ARE KIDS WELCOME?
Kids of all age are welcome. Elounda has a number of child oriented activities and facilities, including a crèche to give parents some “alone time” during the day. Upon request, our wedding planners can arrange for babysitting services. As the reception is at a restaurant that is open to the sea (see picture below), small children may be eaten by sharks. No, wait. They’ll probably need supervision.
